NO SMOKING DAY
The NSS Unit and IQAC of National College of Pharmacy, KMCT Medical College Campus, Mukkam, observed No Smoking Day on 11 March 2026 with the aim of creating awareness about the harmful effects of smoking and promoting a healthy, tobacco-free lifestyle among the public.
As part of the program, several awareness activities were organized by the students and faculty members of the college.
A Selfie Stand Campaign was arranged within the campus and nearby college areas to encourage people to take photos with anti-smoking messages and spread awareness through social media. The campaign attracted active participation from students and staff.
Another important activity was the distribution of Drug Information Leaflets on Nicotine Replacement Therapy (NRT). These informative leaflets explained various NRT options such as nicotine gums, patches, and lozenges, and how they can help individuals quit smoking. The leaflets were distributed to smokers and the general public to educate them about safer alternatives and methods for smoking cessation.
A Public Survey was also conducted to understand people's awareness and attitudes toward smoking and its health risks. NSS volunteers interacted with members of the public and collected responses using a structured questionnaire. The survey helped in assessing the level of awareness regarding the dangers of smoking and the availability of smoking cessation aids.
The program successfully raised awareness among the community regarding the serious health hazards associated with smoking. It also highlighted the role of pharmacists and healthcare professionals in promoting smoking cessation and supporting individuals who wish to quit smoking.
