5th National Pharmacovigilance week

5th National Pharmacovigilance week
The Department of Pharmacy Practice, KMCT National College of Pharmacy, actively participated in the observance of the 5th National Pharmacovigilance Week held from September 17–23, 2025, by organizing a Community Awareness Campaign on September 20, 2025, at East Malayamma, Chathamangalam. The program aimed to promote awareness among the public on the importance of pharmacovigilance and their role in ensuring drug safety through the identification and reporting of Adverse Drug Reactions (ADRs).
As part of the campaign, informative pamphlets and brochures were distributed to patients and community attendees, and interactive awareness sessions were conducted to educate the public on recognizing, preventing, and reporting ADRs. The sessions also emphasized the importance of community participation in pharmacovigilance for improved drug safety. Direct engagement with the public helped clarify doubts and encouraged them to actively contribute to ADR reporting.
Interns, B. Pharm students, and D. Pharm students participated enthusiastically in the event and contributed to both community-based activities and the social media awareness campaign that was also conducted as part of the observance.
The event was coordinated by Mr. Abdurahman, Assistant Professor, and Ms. Shamils Thasneem K, Assistant Professor, Department of Pharmacy Practice. The observance of the 5th National Pharmacovigilance Week through this initiative proved to be highly impactful in spreading awareness about drug safety and highlighted the importance of pharmacovigilance at the community level.
