On August 2nd, 2025, the festival of Onam was celebrated with great enthusiasm and joy at National College. The celebrations were inaugurated by Mr. Sijo Pattam, Head of the Department of Pharmaceutics, in the presence of all the Heads of various departments and staff members.
As part of the festivities, a grand floral carpet (Pookalam) was beautifully arranged by the staff, while the students showcased their creativity and talent in a lively Pookalamatsaram (floral carpet competition). Traditional Chenda melam and Pulikali performances further enhanced the festive atmosphere, filling the campus with energy and excitement.
A graceful performance of Thiruvathirakali by the staff was a highlight of the day, showcasing Kerala’s rich cultural heritage. This was followed by vibrant dance performances by the students, which kept the audience thoroughly entertained.
The spirit of competition was brought alive with a thrilling Vadam Vali (tug of war), where both staff and students participated with great enthusiasm, creating an atmosphere of fun and excitement.
The celebrations concluded with a grand Onasadya, a traditional feast enjoyed by everyone. The variety of dishes served reflected the essence of Onam and was relished by all.
Overall, the Onam celebrations at National College were conducted wonderfully, bringing together staff and students in a spirit of unity, tradition, and festivity.
