The Doctor of Pharmacy Post-Baccalaureate (Pharm.D. PB) program at National College of Pharmacy in Kozhikode is a three-year doctoral course designed for individuals holding a Bachelor of Pharmacy (B.Pharm) degree. This program aims to enhance clinical skills and prepare graduates for advanced pharmacy practice.

This program enhances students’ clinical pharmacy skills, preparing them for advanced practice in various healthcare settings. The curriculum includes advanced courses in pharmacology, drug therapy management, and patient care, along with hands-on clinical practice and internships. Students gain practical experience through internships at hospitals, clinics, and community pharmacies, which helps bridge the gap between theoretical learning and real-world application.

Admission Requirements, Process, and Duration

Eligibility 

To be eligible for admission to the Pharm.D. PB (Post Baccalaureate) course, a candidate must have passed B.Pharm with a minimum of 50% marks from an institution approved by the Pharmacy Council of India, under Section 12 of the Pharmacy Act.

Reserved seats will be available for students belonging to Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, and Other Backward Classes, as per the instructions issued by the Central Government, State Government, or Union Territory Administration.

Duration 

The duration of the course is three academic years (two years of study and one year of internship or residency), full-time, with each academic year spread over a period of no less than 200 working days.

The three-year duration is divided into two phases: Phase I, which consists of the first and second academic years, and Phase II, which consists of internship or residency training during the third year, involving postings in specialty units.

Phase II is a training phase in which students are exposed to actual pharmacy practice or clinical pharmacy services and acquire skills under supervision to function independently.
