National College of Pharmacy was established in the year 1998 by Dr. K Moidu a leading philanthropist and a leading Medical Practitioner in Malabar region. College was imparting two-year Diploma course in Pharmacy. National College of Pharmacy is a premier institute of the higher education sector in the State of Kerala. The institute is situated in Manassery, Kozhikode district and is the meeting place of the three districts namely Kozhikode, Malappuram & Wayanad, which were declared educationally backward districts by Govt of Kerala. Mr. C A Abdul Salam was the first Principal of this College later Mr Mujeeb Rahman took his place as the Head of Institute. The college was upgraded to Degree level institution in 2002 with B Pharm 60 intake and flourished into a full-fledge college with social responsibility and commitment to society. Prof R Raju, retired Professor in Pharmaceutical Chemistry from Govt Medical College Trivandrum took the position as Principal.

The Post-Graduation courses in Pharmacy namely M Pharm and Pharm D were introduced in the year 2010. The college is a minority self-financing institute managed under the KMCT Trust. We have a history and a heritage that we endeavor to preserve and which are an inspiration and guide for our future. The National College of Pharmacy is affiliated to the Kerala University of Health Sciences. A host of programs are available to learners of this college with 100 undergraduate(BPharm), 30 Nos of PharmD, 10 Nos of Pharm D Post Baccalaureate, 60 Nos for Diploma in Pharmacy (D Pharm), and four specializations in Postgraduate program in Pharmacy (M.Pharm - Pharmaceutics, Pharmaceutical Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Analysis &Pharmacy Practice). The college has the most modern analytical lab and sophisticated machine room for research and academic needs. The infrastructures for the co-curricular and extra-curricular activities in the college are well appreciated by eminent personalities, who have visited the college. A full-fledged computer lab is also made available to students for various academic pursuits. The Library is supported by the internet, journals, e-book, and e-journals. Under the leadership of Dr. B Seetha Devi, the Director then we got approval from University as a recognized research center for the award of Doctor of Philosophy in Pharmaceutical Sciences (specialized in Pharmaceutics, Pharmaceutical Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Analysis, Pharmacy Practice). A substantial number of students of NCP represent the economically and socially backward sections and avail grants from Government. The students who belong to SC, ST, and OBC categories avail of benefits in the form of scholarships from the Government.

The other minority students also get a grant from Government. The postgraduate students who are admitted under G PAT scholarship are getting a scholarship and directly credited to the student bank account from the Ministry of HRD Govt of India. The college's vision of limitless possibilities began to fructify in 2019 when the College was accredited by the National Board of Accreditation Government of India. The college got Accreditation when Dr. M K Unnikrishnan took charge as Principal. During his Tenure College initiated collaboration with Foreign Universities like Heart and Diabetes Institute, Melbourne, Australia, Qassim University, Saudi Arabi, Boston University School of Public Health, USA and the University of Queensland, Australia, etc. Student Exchange program “Rendezvous 2018-19” with Findlay University, Ohio, USA was made possible for the benefit of Pharm D students Eight students 8 from Findlay University, Ohio, USA & a Professor, Dr. Chandrasekhar, visited the National College of Pharmacy, on a student exchange program.

Findlay students underwent an introductory course in Ayurveda and interacted and shadowed PharmD students at ward rounds, and academic activities. Two symposia were conducted jointly during this interval, namely “Ayurvedic Biology” and “Comparing health care systems of India vs. the USA”. Five NCP students (PharmD) have received invitations to visit Findlay University Ohio, the USA in 2019 under a funded Student Exchange Program to be partly funded/subsidized by Findlay University, Ohio, USA. The college is having an ISPOR local chapter and substantial programs were conducted under this banner. The local chapter of (Swayam) National Programme on Technology Enhanced Learning NPTEL is functioning in college where the staff/student can take up online courses in the relevant field of study. Dr Akash Marathakam and Dr Kathirvel were awarded the best Teacher and best Researcher respectively by Professional agencies. Present Principal Dr. Sujith Varma K took charge as Principal since 8th April 2021. He holds important positions in various committees under KUHS. Under his leadership, the college has excelled in University examinations. Few students bagged University rank in both graduate and postgraduate programs in Pharmacy. The college has received various funding from AICTE for the conduct of FDP, MODROBS, and ATAL FDP.
